Post-Publication Discussion Policy
International Journal of Business, Law, and Education (IJBLE)
Official Website: https://ijble.com/index.php/journal/index
1. Policy Statement
The International Journal of Business, Law, and Education (IJBLE) is committed to promoting open scholarly dialogue, academic transparency, constructive criticism, and continuous improvement of the scientific record.
IJBLE recognizes that scholarly communication does not end with publication. Published research remains subject to academic discussion, independent evaluation, critical examination, and further scientific investigation.
The journal encourages responsible post-publication discussion concerning articles published in IJBLE, particularly those addressing theoretical, methodological, empirical, ethical, and practical issues in business, law, education, and related interdisciplinary fields.
This policy is informed by the principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), particularly those concerning post-publication discussions and corrections.
2. Objectives of Post-Publication Discussion
The objectives of this policy are to:
-
Encourage constructive academic discussion of published research.
-
Promote transparency, scholarly accountability, and intellectual openness.
-
Facilitate the identification and correction of scientific or editorial errors.
-
Provide opportunities for authors to respond to legitimate scholarly criticism.
-
Support reproducibility, methodological rigor, and research integrity.
-
Maintain the credibility and reliability of the published scholarly record.
-
Strengthen academic communication among researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the wider scholarly community.
3. Scope of Post-Publication Discussion
IJBLE welcomes post-publication contributions concerning:
Scientific and Methodological Criticism: Constructive evaluations of research design, sampling procedures, analytical methods, data interpretation, and methodological limitations.
Theoretical and Conceptual Discussion: Alternative interpretations, theoretical perspectives, conceptual developments, and critical academic responses.
Research Findings and Data Reliability: Questions regarding the accuracy, consistency, reproducibility, or interpretation of published findings.
Legal and Policy Perspectives: Scholarly discussion of legal reasoning, regulatory implications, policy analysis, and comparative legal interpretations.
Educational and Practical Implications: Academic responses relating to educational practices, institutional development, professional applications, and policy implementation.
Research Integrity Concerns: Substantive concerns involving plagiarism, data manipulation, authorship, conflicts of interest, ethical approval, or other potential violations of publication ethics.
4. Mechanisms for Post-Publication Discussion
IJBLE supports scholarly discussion through editorially managed communication channels.
Post-publication contributions may be submitted in the following forms:
4.1 Letters to the Editor
Readers and researchers may submit a Letter to the Editor addressing an article previously published in IJBLE.
Such correspondence should:
-
Clearly identify the published article.
-
Present specific academic arguments or concerns.
-
Include relevant supporting evidence and scholarly references.
-
Maintain professional and respectful language.
-
Focus on the scientific content rather than personal criticism.
Letters may be considered for publication following editorial assessment and, where necessary, peer review.
4.2 Scholarly Comments and Critical Responses
IJBLE may consider substantive scholarly commentaries discussing research findings, theoretical interpretations, methodologies, or academic implications of published articles.
Contributions must demonstrate academic relevance, originality of analysis, and constructive scholarly value.
4.3 Author Responses
Authors of the original publication may be invited to respond to scholarly comments or criticisms.
Author responses should address the substantive issues raised, provide clarification where necessary, and maintain an evidence-based academic approach.
4.4 Research Integrity Reports
Readers, researchers, and institutions may contact the editorial office to report concerns about the reliability, accuracy, or ethical integrity of published research.
Such reports will be considered under the journal's publication ethics and research misconduct policies.
5. Submission and Editorial Assessment
Post-publication comments and criticisms should be submitted to the IJBLE editorial office through the journal's official communication channels.
Submissions should include:
-
The title of the published article.
-
The authors' names and publication details.
-
The article DOI or URL, where available.
-
A clear explanation of the scholarly issue.
-
Supporting evidence, data, or academic references.
-
The contributor's name, affiliation, and contact information, unless confidentiality is justified.
The Editor-in-Chief or a designated independent editor will assess the submission to determine its academic relevance, credibility, and suitability for further consideration.
Where appropriate, the journal may seek independent expert assessment.
6. Editorial Review and Moderation
IJBLE is committed to ensuring that post-publication discussions remain objective, constructive, academically relevant, and ethically responsible.
The editorial team may decline or request revision of submissions containing:
-
Personal attacks or abusive language.
-
Defamatory or discriminatory statements.
-
Unsupported allegations presented as established facts.
-
Deliberately misleading information.
-
Irrelevant promotional or commercial material.
-
Unlawful disclosure of confidential or personal information.
-
Content unrelated to the scholarly issues being discussed.
Scientific disagreement alone shall not constitute grounds for rejecting a legitimate post-publication critique.
Decisions concerning publication of formal critiques and responses will be based on their academic merit, supporting evidence, and compliance with editorial standards.
7. Right of Reply for Authors
IJBLE recognizes the importance of procedural fairness in post-publication scholarly discussions.
When a substantial critique of a published article is considered for formal publication, the editorial office will normally invite the original author or corresponding author to provide a response.
Authors will be given a reasonable period to prepare their responses, taking into account the complexity of the issues raised.
The absence of an author response will not automatically prevent the publication of a credible and academically justified critique.
Editors may publish related critiques and responses together or separately, depending on their assessment of scholarly relevance and editorial circumstances.
8. Corrections and Clarifications
Where post-publication discussion identifies factual, methodological, bibliographic, or editorial errors, IJBLE may consider appropriate corrective measures.
Corrections may be issued when an error requires public clarification but does not fundamentally invalidate the article's principal findings.
Published correction notices should:
-
Identify the original article.
-
Clearly explain the nature of the correction.
-
Provide accurate replacement information where necessary.
-
Remain publicly accessible.
-
Be linked to the original publication.
The journal will seek to preserve the transparency and traceability of the scholarly record.
9. Expressions of Concern and Retractions
When post-publication discussion raises substantial concerns regarding the reliability or integrity of a published article, IJBLE may initiate an investigation in accordance with its research misconduct and publication ethics policies.
Depending on the available evidence, appropriate actions may include:
Expression of Concern: Issued when serious concerns exist regarding a published article but available evidence is inconclusive or an investigation remains unresolved.
Retraction: Issued when there is sufficient evidence that the findings are unreliable or that serious ethical or publication misconduct undermines the integrity of the work.
Retraction notices should explain the reasons for the editorial action and remain permanently accessible.
Retracted articles should ordinarily remain available in the scholarly record with clear retraction identification rather than being silently removed.
10. Confidentiality and Research Integrity
IJBLE will handle post-publication communications responsibly and protect confidential information where appropriate.
Reports involving suspected research misconduct may require confidential evaluation before any public statement is issued.
Individuals raising concerns in good faith should not be subjected to retaliation or unfair treatment.
The journal will distinguish between legitimate scholarly disagreement, honest research errors, and potential misconduct.
11. Editorial Independence and Conflicts of Interest
Editors involved in managing post-publication discussions must disclose relevant competing interests.
Where a conflict of interest exists, the matter should be assigned to an appropriately qualified independent editor.
Editorial decisions must not be influenced by authors' academic positions, institutional affiliations, commercial interests, or personal relationships.
12. Transparency and Accessibility
IJBLE is committed to maintaining transparent records of substantive post-publication editorial actions.
Where formal critiques, author responses, corrections, expressions of concern, or retraction notices are published, the journal should provide clear bibliographic information and links to the relevant original articles.
These materials should remain accessible through the journal's official publication platform.
13. Responsibilities of the Scholarly Community
Authors are expected to respond constructively to legitimate concerns and cooperate in resolving identified errors.
Readers and Researchers are encouraged to submit evidence-based comments and report concerns responsibly.
Reviewers should maintain professional standards, confidentiality, and impartiality when assessing post-publication correspondence.
Editors are responsible for facilitating fair scholarly discussion and ensuring appropriate corrections to the published literature.
14. Policy Review and Continuous Improvement
IJBLE will periodically review its post-publication discussion procedures to ensure that they remain appropriate, transparent, and consistent with developments in international scholarly publishing standards.
The journal recognizes that constructive academic debate contributes to the advancement of knowledge and the continued improvement of published research.
